Pan Peninsula Shuttle

Every now and again something really out of the ordinary is offered to our office and we are usually very happy to take them on. Such was the case when we were approached to design a water taxi with a difference; to launch a ferry to transport potential property buyers from Arrowhead Quay in Canary Wharf to a floating marketing suite for a luxury residential development in London.

The problem; how to provide a vessel with full standing headroom which could pass under low bridges with only shallow canal water to operate in.

The result is Pan Peninsular; a vessel with an air draft of less than a metre and a water draft of 1.6m. The project, co-ordinated by Martin Wasilewski of See-Solutions required us to provide both the naval architecture and the interior and exterior styling.

We think she is impressively stylish at 15.5 metres long, painted in metallic silver and with a full glass cover. The interior is built of the highest quality with bulkheads veneered in quarter sawn teak and up to 12 passengers sit in air conditioned luxury on seats upholstered in top quality Scottish leather. Diesel electric technology, with twin generators providing power for the electric Aziprop drive and other services enables Pan Peninsular to do her best to keep the environment in which she operates clean.
